Fashion Inspiration: ANA GIMENO BRUGADA – MASCULINITY

Fashion Inspiration: ANA GIMENO BRUGADA – MASCULINITY

In June you had the chance to see an installation called AGE IS JUST A NUMBER at the Galéria shopping centre, where we presented five influencers over 50 whose approach shows that we have reached the threshold of an era in which the way we dress is no longer about age, but rather about mindset, status, or the occasion we are dressing for. One of them is Ana Gimeno Brugada.

Ana guards her privacy, and although she is not widely known to the general public, she is one of the most distinctive personalities in the fashion world. You won’t find much information about Ana online – not even her exact age. What we do know is that Ana Gimeno Brugada is an independent fashion consultant and stylist of Spanish origin based in Milan, whose clients include brands such as Dries Van Noten and Brunello Cucinelli. She works behind the scenes, yet her unique take on fashion attracts the attention of street-style photographers. In 2016 Vogue included her in its list of the best-dressed men in fashion, calling her “the person with the freshest and most modern approach to the traditional pillars of the menswear wardrobe”.

“What I consider most important in fashion is proportion and the mix of new and old.” – Ana Gimeno Brugada (60+, fashion consultant and stylist)

She has been making waves in fashion circles with her maximalist androgynous dressing for many years. Her style is built on traditional menswear, and what makes it truly unique is the way she layers and mixes vibrant colours, contrasting patterns and accessories, creating a seemingly effortless elegance. You will never see her in a skirt or a dress. Her trousers are usually carrot-cut and ankle-skimming. For shoes she chooses flat loafers or sandals and pairs them with bold socks. Jackets of every kind are a must. Her favourite accessories are vintage glasses and men’s signet rings. Instead of earrings she prefers statement necklaces, or ties a scarf around her neck.

For the mannequin inspired by fashion icon Ana Gimeno Brugada, we chose from the stores at the Galéria shopping centre: Trousers Orsay, shirt and jacket Adam, shoes CCC, bag Street, glasses CCC.
